It most definitely does.
Sometimes you fall in love with someone who is just totally wrong for you. But you love them anyway. There is a reason you fell in love with them, even if you can never be together. And that really doesn’t make things any easier to deal with. So, sometimes you just have accept that the love exists. It can’t grow or flourish, it just has to be.
